 ..Watkins recently burst onto the Ottawa fashion scene as a rather impressive swimwear designer. Her debut collection at the S/S 2012 Ottawa Fashion Week last fall was extremely well received. Now Watkins is not only working on her next collection but an interest and passion behind the scenes of the editorial world has led her into our Assistant Editor position at PRESS The Fashion. As a fashion designer, Watkins offers a fresh perspective to the team.

Favourite designer?: 
Diane von Furstenberg.  She is just such an amazing role model for the kind of woman I want to be, not just as a designer.  She epitomizes class and femininity, and she has been able to successfully balance being a successful business owner with also being a great mother and friend. 

Favourite musician/band?: 
No Doubt, hands down.  I saw them live a few years ago and shocked the person with whom I had gone with my manic levels of excitement.  I know every single word of every one of their songs.

One thing you can't live without?: 
I don’t know if I can choose just one!  Sadly, I can’t make it through anything without coffee, so I guess that might have to be my default answer.  Nonfat lattes with cinnamon, preferably with a good conversation, make for a very simple happiness formula!

Friday evening was the launch party of Amber Watkins Swim at downtown hot spot 'JunXion'.

Guests invited had the opportunity to not just mix, mingle and get get to know the designer but also were treated to a small and intimate fashion show. The evening was rather fantastic leaving us wanting more!

Summer is just around the corner and with that being said many of you ladies are beginning your hunt for the perfect piece (or pieces) of swim wear. Ottawa's 'Amber Watkins Swim' has gone live with an online store that should help finding the right one!

2nd annual Fashion For Funds in Ottawa

Last year Fashion for Funds brought together some great Ottawa Talent and raised thousands of dollars for charity. This year, they are at it again!

All proceeds from the show go directly to Roger's House, an Ottawa children's hospice that supports and houses children and their families affected by terminal illnesses.

The fashion show lineup includes Jana Hanzel & Emilia Torabi Fashion Design Studio, Amber Watkins, Demu Label, and Khala Morgan, all local Ottawa talent out to show their support!

Winter is here and it sure is getting cold out!

For us though, in this wonderful world of fashion we're already focusing on the next season and to us, it's already spring! Amber Watkins is the designer behind Amber Watkins Swim, an Ottawa based swim wear line that brings bold colours and clean lines together for simple yet elegant and wearable pieces.

Watkin's debut came this past Ottawa Fashion Week in September for the S/S 2012 shows.

Ottawa Fashion S/S 2012

The Spring/Summer 2012 shows for Ottawa Fashion Week have concluded and featured some very note-worthy shows that were not to miss. Rud by Rudsak, Kania, Amber Watkins Swim, Illyria and Jana Hanzel & Emilia Torabi showcased not only some excellent collections but also some fantastic make-up, hair and model selections.

This season left our editors anticipating for the next show season here in Ottawa!
